  • Walter Dorwin Teague, 1883-1960. American industrial designer, architect, graphic designer, illustrator and entrepreneur. WDT is noted as one of the founders of the industrial design profession in the United States. He is also concidered an influental figure among the pioneering designers who introduced modernism to America through product and exhibition design as well as writings.
    At the age of nineteen WDT moved to New York, where he studied at the Art Students League and went into commercial illustration and advertising, graphic and packege design. After travelling to Europe in 1926 observing stylistic movemnets and developments, he returned to New York where he opened his own design consultancy, Walter Dorwin teague Associates.Utilizing his years of experience and thorough knowledge of marketing and diverse design disciplines, Teague served a variety of corporate clients, designing cameras for Eastman Kodak, glass for Steuben, radios for Spartan, and a corporate identity program for the oil company Texaco, among others.

    WDT's design legacy and firm is now known as "Teague" and based in Seattle.
