18th Century Design and Craft Room 2
- This anteroom’s was moved from Stockholm in association with the demolition of Regeringsgatan 36 in 1913. The interior fittings were drawn by architect Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz (1716-1796), who was a central figure in 18th century architecture and art history.
The property was inhabited by merchant Bengt Magnus Björkman (deceased 1824), followed by his direct descendants until Brandförsäkrings AB Victoria acquired it in 1900. In turn, they sold it to Josef Sachs who established the NK – Nordiska Kompaniet – department store on the land.
The view of Stockholm in the window is an enlargement of a watercolour by Elias Martin (1739-1818).
