Tsuba of wrought iron decoration depicting a stylised crane with outstretched wings, positive carving. Tsuba refers to the protective plate of a Japanese sword. Throughout history swords were highly priced possessions in Japan. Used as status symbols, these weapons were carefully decorated with intricate designs crafted by the skillful artisans.
